Such rollover protection systems typically have a rollover body (1) that can be extended and retracted in a vehicle-fixed housing (4) and can be quickly extended into an upper position in the event of danger by sensor control, as well as a re-retraction lock that comes into operative engagement in the upper position area, consisting of a locking device made up of toothed locking elements, one of which is vehicle-fixed and another is in communication with the rollover body (1). In order to improve the load-bearing capacity of the re-retraction lock, the invention provides two systems of toothed locking elements, each having a vehicle-fixed mounted gear wheel (22, 23) and a tooth rack (20, 21) attached to the rollover body (1), which constantly mesh with the gear wheels, whereby the gear wheels (22, 23) in the extended state of the rollover body can be brought into locking operative engagement with a central locking-locking element (26) which has tooth segments for this operative engagement.
