Haptic terminal

A haptic input/output unit for controlling a device is described which comprises a position monitoring means assigning an absolute or relative position of the haptic input/output unit to a mode of the device. Within a mode, the user might select an operation via a menu by pushing a menu popup button and tilting the whole terminal around one of its axes until the desired menu item is selected. Preferrably, the haptic input/output unit is used in a driver information system.
