Vehicle door comprising a panel directly mounted on the structure of the door

The door consists of a structure (2) with an outer wall (4) and an inner wall (6), and a trim assembly (12) with a panel (14) and a surround (16). The trim panel, made from a surface layer (18) of textile, leather or plastic and and inner foam layer (21), is self-supporting and is fastened directly to the door structure by fixings (20) with first components (20b, 20c) attached to the door structure and second components (20a) attached to the trim panel. The surround (16) is supported by the trim panel, which has seals between it and the inner wall of the door structure.
