A method for control of an injector (2) in an internal combustion engine (3) in which for a specific engine cycle, a control unit (13) calculates a desired value (Tinj) of the opening time of the injector (2) and forwards this desired value (Tinj) to a drive circuit (12) of the injector (2), a supervision device (11) calculates an actual value (Tinjeff) of the opening time of the injector (2) during the injection phase, compares this actual value (Tinj) with the desired value (Tinj) and generates an error signal if the difference between the desired value (Tinj) and the actual value (Tinjeff) is outside a predetermined acceptability range.
