January 30, 2002
A control device (1) for controlling a clutch (6) of a vehicle wherein an actuator (8) is connected to and provides for operating the clutch (6), the work position of which is determined by a position sensor (33) which supplies a measured position signal (PMIS) to a control device (34, 59) receiving an information signal (SINF) and supplying a control signal (I, V) for the actuator (8); the control device (1) has a monitor circuit (32) for determining malfunctioning of the position sensor (33) and supplying a fault signal (COM); and a virtual sensor device (38) for estimating the work position of the clutch (6) to supply the control device (34, 59), in the presence of the fault signal (COM), with a virtual position signal (SPV) instead of the measured position signal (PMIS).
