The water-cooled cylinder sleeve (7) has a cooling channel (5) integrated in its rim (6), the end face of which has a sealing surface for a cylinder head gasket. The cooling water is supplied and removed via a transverse bore (3) in the crank housing for each cylinder, communicating with a cooling water bore (4) in the rim of the cylinder sleeve, provided with a seal (8) for preventing water leakage.
