A system for measuring the distance and trajectories travelled by bodies in flight during sports events such as athletics, said bodies executing trajectories having a common predetermined take-off area (13), and a landing point (29) variable within a landing surface (2A, 3A, 4A, 5A), said system comprising fixed means (11, 11A, 11B, 11C) for acquiring the image of the landing surface (2A, 3A, 4A, 5A) and positioned at a predetermined distance from the take-off area (13), means (16, 16A, 16B, 16C) for recording this image at least from the moment of initiation of the flight to its completion, means (39) for identifying the landing point (29A) of the body within the landing surface (2A, 3A, 4A, 5A), and means (24) for evaluating the distance of said landing point from the take-off area (13), which measure the distance travelled by the body in flight immediately after flight completion and display the result of said measurement on display means.
