A leather-faced trim part for a vehicle interior trim includes a leather piece (12) and an intermediate layer (14) connected to the leather piece (12). A curable composition (16) is applied to the intermediate layer (14) or the leather piece (12), which after curing gives the leather-faced trim part (10) such inherent rigidity that it maintains a curved shape and can be inserted into an injection molding tool (27). Stacking of prefabricated leather-faced trim parts (10) is also possible. The shape of the leather-faced trim part (10) already corresponds to that of the finished product, in particular the vehicle interior trim (26) for which it is used. The leather-faced trim part (10) is only back-injected in order to obtain a stable support piece (28), which gives the entire interior trim (26) even more stability.
