A displaceable light distribution section has an optical axis which is angularly laterally displaceable to define a displacement angle (&thetas;P) between it and a principal optical axis. A drive section drives the displaceable light distribution section to displace its optical axis angularly laterally by the displacement angle (&thetas;P). A sensor detects the steering angle ( delta H) of a vehicular steering wheel. A controller controls the drive section in accordance with a displacement angle (&thetas;P) which is a function of the steering angle ( delta H). A gain setting section of the controller sets a gain (K) for prescribing the displacement angle (&thetas;P) with respect to the steering angle ( delta H), the gain (K) falling in a predetermined range, e.g. 1/6 to 1/2, such that the displacement angle (&thetas;P) is smaller than the steering angle ( delta H).
