Device for blocking the rotation of a steering column in a motor vehicle

The device has a movable locking element (14) in a lock chamber (12) that engages a steering spindle (3) in its locking position and an actuating device (9) for operating the locking element. The lock chamber is passively protected against manipulative ingress by electrical/electronic operating components (K) required for driving the vehicle whose functionality is impaired by a manipulative ingress.
