An Independent claim is also included for an apparatus for purifying IC engine exhaust gases comprising an engine control unit (5) having a controller (6) for terminating the NOx regeneration. Preferred Features: The exhaust gas branches are brought together at a connecting point downstream of the NOx storage catalysts and upstream of a connected oxidation catalyst.
