The engine has at least one additional exhaust port with a second exhaust valve connected to an exhaust gas feedback manifold, which is connected to an induction pipe via an exhaust gas feedback valve. The second valve is opened during a working stroke if the pressure in the combustion chamber exceeds that in the induction pipe and closed later during the working stroke. The engine has at least one combustion chamber (14), a cylinder head (12) with at least one inlet port (40) for the combustion chamber, an exhaust port (22,42), inlet and exhaust valves (18,16), an exhaust manifold (24), an induction pipe (36), a turbocharger (30) and an exhaust gas feedback system. The cylinder head has at least one further exhaust port with a second exhaust valve connected to the exhaust gas feedback manifold (44), which is connected to the induction pipe via an exhaust gas feedback valve (50,52) . The second valve is opened during a working stroke if the pressure in the combustion chamber exceeds that in the induction pipe and closed later during the working stroke.
