Calibration method in an internal combustion engine

Relative to a given piston position (OTang) determined by the instrument, the same quantity of fuel is injected at different times into the cylinder and ignited. Temperatures are measured and compared for each injection, determining the position relative to the given position (OTang), yielding the maximum temperature, at least approximately. The instant of injection leading to maximum temperature is compared with a stored injection instant specific to the engine type, taking place at piston position (OTTat) and leading to maximum temperature on combustion. The instrument determining position is calibrated using the values (OTang), (OTTat) and their calculated difference ( DELTA OT).
