"textContent": "In an arrangement of a fuel supply device (40,50) for a direct internal combustion engine (1) in which an intake system (2) and an exhaust system (3) are installed to the front and back of the engine, respectively, and a high-pressure fuel pump (50) is located adjacent to a front upper part of the engine so as to be driven by one of camshafts, namely an intake camshaft (14) located in front of an exhaust camshaft (15), the high-pressure fuel pump is put not in a vertical position but in an rearward inclined position. This arrangement shifts the high-pressure fuel pump backward in installing position with an effect of eliminating mechanical interference of the high-pressure fuel pump with a hood of a front engine compartment and provides the front engine compartment with a long distance between the fuel pump and a dash panel behind the fuel pump with an effect of lowing energy of an impact applied to the fuel pump from the dash panel when the engine moves rearward due to an external impact from the front.",
