To effect a deformation or yielding upon head impact on the safety belt system, a deformation element (3) is interposed, which plastically deforms and absorbs energy. In order to avoid replacement of many parts, the device for the belt height adjuster is designed such that after a head impact, only the deformation element (3) is replaceable.
