The method involves detecting the current voltage and the current electric current when starting the engine after supplying an injection valve opening device with current and computing a current resistance, deriving the temperature at the injection valve, comparing it with a calibrated hot start temperature and performing a hot start correction if the current temperature is greater than or equal to the calibrated temperature.
