An open roof construction for a vehicle is disclosed, which open roof construction comprises a roof opening (2) which can be closed by means of a movable closure element (3), wherein a sliding sun screen (4) is present under the closure element (3), which sun screen (4) at least partially consists of a material that exhibits variable light transmission. The sun screen (4) may consist in its entirety or partially of such a material. The light transmission can be varied automatically but also manually.
