Exterior rear view mirror for vehicles, in particular for automotive vehicles
DRIVE
August 1, 2001
The exterior rearview mirror has a housing (12) that accommodates a lighting unit which has at least one light source (31) whose rays (32) emerge outward. In order to design the exterior rearview mirror such that the lighting unit reliably fulfills its lighting function with simple structural design of the mirror, a reflector (30) is provided between the light source (31) and the light disk (13), which reflector has at least one opening in the area of which the light source (31) is located. The light source (31) can be arranged in the opening of the reflector (30) such that it is not visible from the outside through the light disk (13). By means of the reflector (30), the rays (32) of the light source (31) that do not directly reach the light disk (13) are reflected toward the light disk (13). The exterior rearview mirror is advantageously suitable for motor vehicles.
