A torsional bushing assembly for use in a vehicle, the assembly comprising: an elongated inner member having a main portion, a longitudinal axis and first and second ends, the main portion comprising a plurality of lobes extending generally radially outwardly with respect to said axis to give the main portion a generally cruciform cross-section; a bushing positioned on the main portion of the inner member, the bushing having a generally cylindrical outer periphery with protrusions and indentations formed thereon and generally cruciform shaped aperture defined therein in which the main portion of the tubular member is received; and a generally cylindrical housing in which the inner member and the bushing are disposed, the housing having protrusions extending generally radially inwardly with respect to said axis and corresponding to the indentations of the bushing; wherein the lobes and the protrusions are arranged to overlap in the radial direction so that, upon relative rotation of the inner member and the housing, portions of the bushing between the lobes and the protrusions are compressed.
