Electrochromic mirrors comprises a transparent conductive substrate (11), a reflective conductive substrate (16), and an ion conductive layer (14) disposed therebetween wherein at least one of said substrates is provided on the peripheral portions of its conductive surface with a highly conductive layer (13) having smaller resistance than the surface resistance of said conductive surface.
