The method involves determining a current torque value of each drive motor, and comparing these torque values with each other. A nominal torque point for the group drive is limited on the currently reached actual value of the total torque of the group drive at overstepping of the torque difference of two drive motors above a predetermined value. The number of revolutions, as well as current and voltage of a drive motor are preferably measured for determining the current torque value. The number of revolutions of a drive motor is preferably measured incrementally.
