Wheel drive device and axle assembly for use in a wheel drive

The device has at least one wheel hub (8), a wheel rim (6) and an electrical drive machine (2) with at least one rotor (3) driving the hub and a stator (4). The machine is mounted at least partly in a region described by the axial extent of the rim and an axle body (12) encloses the machine in the peripheral direction over at least part of its axial extent and extends over the axial extent of the rim when installed viewing in the direction of the vehicle's central axis (FM). Independent claims are also included for the following: an axle unit for a wheel drive device and the use of a wheel drive device in a warehouse vehicle.
