The central locking activating and de-activating device has a portable transmitter for providing a coded information received by an onboard receiver for comparison with a stored coded information, to provide a control signal for activating/de-activating the central locking. The receiver is coupled to a mechanical device for operating the central locking, with manual input of the code information via an operating lever (11), or a door handle (13) as a series of pulses, fed to an evaluation device (1) via a data line (9).
