Generator-motor combination

The arrangement has a generator rotor (2) attached to an input shaft (1) and permanent magnets (3) mounted on the generator rotor, a motor rotor (5) on an output shaft (4) with motor permanent magnets (6) mounted on the motor rotor and a first stator (8) with at least one winding. The first stator is moves axially within the generator and motor rotors. A second stator (7) with at least one stator winding moves axially outside the rotors. Independent claims are also included for the following: the use of a generator-motor combination as an electromagnetic torque converter for a motor vehicle.
