An electric motor vehicle has as the drive system a battery, a motor, and a controller for controlling the rotation of the motor. It is characterized by disposing an accelerator for controlling the speed of the motor and varying a resistance value according to its opening degree, a key switch for turning on or off the motor and the controller, a circuit for judging the open/closed state of the accelerator when said key switch is turned on and for converting a change in the resistance value of the accelerator to a voltage value, and a circuit for preventing the rotation of the motor when the voltage value form said circuit changes and the key switch is turned on with the accelerator open.
