Fuse box for motor vehicles
DRIVE

The main incoming connections (7), e.g. from the dashboard, terminate in a central box-like compartment (1), on whose upper surface sockets are provided to receive a certain number of relays, fuse units, etc., while its side faces are stepped or rebated to form flush fitting, interlocking joints with correspondingly rebated sides of two lateral compartments (2,3). The top surfaces of the side compartments (2,3) also have sockets designed to receive relays, fuse units. (26,43). One compartment (2) is reserved for controlling circuits in the rear part of the vehicle, the other (3) for engine compartment circuits, the associated wiring looms (27,44) terminating on the respective front faces. Internal circuits cross these joints via vertically projecting blade contacts that enter female contacts in the side compartments. Mechanical interlocking is provided by vertically sliding catches. Similar arrangements (61) unite the 3 boxes with the calculator unit (60), whose power connections (65,66) are routed via the main loom (7).
