A lighting device has one or more light decoupling elements (LA1,LA2,..LAn) for creating a preset light distribution, one or more sources of light (LQ1,LQ2,...LQn) fitted remote from the light decoupling elements, and one or more fibre optic light guides (5) for connecting the source of light to the light decoupling elements.
