The fuel pump has surface regions sealed by the casing wall and pressurized from the side channel sectors. These surface regions (12, 13) are bounded by chambers (16, 17) formed in the axial walls (5, 6) of the pump wheel (4). They are subdivided by ribs into sealed sub-chambers, the number and surface area of which depend on these of the scoop chambers.
