Navigation system with improved object selection

The system includes database comprising maps and points of interest, stored on a storage medium connected to a computer unit. A visual output unit displays a menu list (14) with the points of interest and a road map showing the current position of the vehicle, as determined by a positioning system. The map and the menu list are displayed simultaneously on the screen of the visual output unit.
