High performance, interferometric fiber optic ring gyroscope

Gyrometer comprises a fiber optic ring with a fiber optic coil (4), an electromagnetic wave source (1) that has a doped optical fiber (8) with a separator for sending two counter propagating waves from the source into the coil and a detector (2) for receiving the counter propagating waves. The fiber optic coil and the doped optical fiber are placed immediately next to each other in thermal contact.
