These internal devices are covered by a cover box (38) and a detent plate (40). In a P shift position, a gap formed by, on the one hand, the cover box and the detent plate, and, on the other hand, the shift lever and the cavity portion thereof, is a labyrinthine structure which is stepped along a horizontal direction. Accordingly, improper operation can be further prevented.",
