A drafted definition

Last week I decided that the next tiny step into trying to get myself to start writing my thesis was to:

...write the damn definition, and explain what's behind the different goals. Don't worry with which one to choose yet.

Well,

Gentlewomen and gentlemen, it is with great pleasure to inform you that I got a drafted definition. It is a mash-up of definitions, mostly, the parts where most people seem to agree.

However, I think I need a bit longer, to draft something about the goals of said definition. I have a general idea of what the goal of my work is trying to achieve and why. But I don't think I can ignore other common goals and not explaing why I chose the one I chose over those. It's logical, I think. Definition -> Models -> Goals -> Reasoning behind the goal I chose. I have to show how I reached that conclusion.

If I go from general to specific, goals can fall in one of three models, so it sounds to me that I have to dedicate some space to explain those models first. That will take some time, maybe one or two more days. So for next day:

Action: Describe the three models and how different goals fit under them.
