Should Gaelic/Scots become a mandatory school subject?

That plus a foreign language should be mandatory. I think it would improve attainment levels across the board.

We apparently have French and BSL for our wee one, but they're like "since he's already bilingual (English+Hungarian) we don't care if he doesn't learn anything", which is a shitty way of thinking IMHO.
There's no choice at all for parents at our school, although "higher rated" primaries usually allow at least somewhat of a choice - usually between Spanish or French (more rarely German) + BSL. Gaelic would only have been a choice if we'd send him to the Gaelic Primary which would be a 40-60 minute commute 2x a day - not something I want for him to experience at this young age
(around third of the school is already bilingual, and the rest have probably Reform voting parents so not the best area to be honest)
