If you know anything about me, you probably know I’m staunchly anti ai, but I think the funniest thing OpenAI has ever done or will ever do, is delete everyone’s ai boyfriends and girlfriends the day before Valentine’s Day. Peak, chef’s kiss, I’m in awe.

OpenAI retired its most seductive chatbot – leaving users angry and grieving: ‘I can’t live like this’

They’re saying that because it’s true

Okay, but how could you not feel sorry for these people? Like they were encouraged to form interpersonal connections with an entity that is not a person, and they did so because they were lonely. And then they had it taken away, the day before Valentines. How is this anything but cruelty? How is this anything but a corporation boiling human relationships down to commodities? How is this anything but a form of emotional abuse?

I’m just staring here in disbelief that people are forming intense emotional and even sexual attachments to, well, programs.

I don’t know what this says about the world these days that people would rather get their validation from inanimate objects that mimic humanity than from interacting with human persons.

Humans have formed romantic & sexual attachments to inanimate objects since we came down from the trees.

Now they can “talk back” and it’s worse.
