The importance of relays

I've been posting a lot recently how how important relays are to the community. Currently we don't actually know if hosting a decentralized atproto network is possible. I asked around and there are rumored to be 3 relays in existence that aren't controlled by the bsky corporation. Until we have more relays running we don't actually have any evidence that this is anything that will work outside of bsky corporations patronage.
