"textContent": "\n\n\n\nChina's foreign minister, Wang Yi, told his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi in a phone call on Wednesday that it was key for all parties to genuinely implement their commitments after Tehran and Washington reached a memorandum of understanding to end their war.\n\n#### What did China say about the Iran-U.S. deal?\n\nWang Yi said peace has now arrived, but the next step depends on all parties genuinely honoring their commitments and removing outside interference. He told Araghchi that China continues to support Iran's legitimate claims to sovereignty and security. Beijing also urged safe and responsible passage through the Strait of Hormuz.\n\n\"The dawn of peace has already emerged, the key part of the next step is for all parties to genuinely implement their commitments and eliminate interference from various sides,\" Wang told Araghchi, according to Beijing's foreign ministry. \"China has consistently supported Iran's reasonable and legitimate claims and Iran's efforts in safeguarding its own sovereignty and security,\" he added.\n\nThe Chinese foreign minister also called for safe and responsible navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, citing widespread concern from the international community. China is a major oil importer and one of several Asian economies that depend on the waterway for energy supplies. Beijing has repeatedly called for safe passage there since the war began in late February.\n\n#### What role has Pakistan played in mediating the Iran-U.S. deal?\n\nIn a phone call on Tuesday with his Pakistani counterpart, Wang warned that the next stage of negotiations would be more difficult. Pakistan has acted as a key mediator between the United States and Iran throughout the conflict. Pakistani officials say China, Islamabad's close ally and Iran's top trading partner, played an important role in supporting its mediation efforts.",
