Pakistan’s federal minister for power has directed authorities to process all net metering applications submitted through February 8 under the previous regulatory framework, easing concerns among solar energy consumers. The decision applies to all electricity distribution companies nationwide, including K-Electric, the Power Division said. Officials have been instructed to immediately implement the directive to ensure that eligible applicants continue to receive net metering facilities without disruption. According to a Power Division spokesperson, a total of 5,165 net metering applications were submitted across all distribution companies, including K-Electric, by the deadline. Once approved, the applications are expected to add about 250 megawatts of capacity to the national grid, contributing to the country’s renewable energy supply. The minister’s decision removes uncertainties surrounding pending applications. He also instructed authorities to maintain transparency in processing all requests. Sardar Awais Leghari urged electricity consumers to register any complaints by calling the helpline at 118.
