Folder Open and Close Sounds Mysteriously Disappear

Periodically, those lovely folder open and close sounds mysteriously disappear. I like them, as juvenile as that probably seems, and in the past, to get them back, I've had to do a VoiceOver reset. Is anyone aware of a less invasive way I can get those folder open/close sounds back without having to do a VoiceOver reset?
