First impressions were a little subdued, perhaps because we had been spoiled by Bruges, but Namur gradually grew on us. It felt more like a working city than a tourist destination, giving it a different atmosphere from some of the places we visited later on the trip.\n\nWe enjoyed wandering around the centre, discovering attractive squares, historic buildings and lively cafés before settling down for the evening.\n\nThe aire itself was simple but perfectly adequate for a stopover, with water and waste facilities available nearby.
