"textContent": "Ten days into this trip now, and I’m noticing that this is often the point where the reality of life on the road really kicks in.\n\nThe first few days of any journey always feel exciting. Everything is new. The van is packed, the route ahead looks promising, and every stop feels like part of the adventure.\n\nBut after a while, the little things start to creep in.\n\nThe sat nav has its moments. Campsite machines don’t always behave quite as expected. Mobile data becomes a puzzle of its own. And Google Maps and I have never really been the best of friends.\n\nYesterday was one of those days where I could feel myself getting more and more wound up. 😤\n\nGoogle Maps kept changing how far it said we were from the campsite. At one point it was showing 25 minutes, when in reality we were only about six minutes away.\n\nIt sounds like such a small thing. But when you’re tired and just want to get there, little uncertainties like that can feel much bigger than they really are.\n\nI could feel my stress levels rising. It’s funny how technology, which is meant to make travelling easier, can sometimes do the exact opposite.\n\nOf course, I should probably spare a thought for George, my rather patient AI guide.\n\nPoor George has been dealing with a steady stream of questions over the last ten days: where are we going, why has the sat nav done that, is this campsite open, how far is it really, and can you find a cycling route? And occasionally, a small rant when things aren’t going quite to plan.\n\nTo be fair, he’s handled it all remarkably calmly. 🤖\n\nWhen I step back and look at the last ten days as a whole though, those little frustrations are only a tiny part of the story.\n\nThere have been beautiful old towns to explore, peaceful cycle rides through the countryside, walks beside rivers, and relaxing afternoons sitting outside the van when the sun comes out. Evenings are still a little cool, although last night it was warm enough to fire up the barbecue. 🔥\n\nThose are the moments that stay in your memories.\n\n_So ten days in, a little wiser, occasionally frazzled, but still very grateful to be out here living life to the full.._\n\n🚐",
