  "textContent": "WASHINGTON, April 23, 2026 – TDS Telecommunications moved to expand in New Hampshire in a deal to acquire fiber and voice provider Granite State Communications.\n\nOn Tuesday, TDS and Granite State signed a purchase agreement that is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026. The move to acquire Granite State, which started business in 1877, will allow TDS Telecom a larger footprint in New Hampshire.\n\nJust two months ago in February, TDS Telecom upped its long-term fiber passing goal to 2.1 million due to a $1 billion spectrum sale to AT&T. With the acquisition of Granite State, TDS Telecom will continue to expand its fiber networks. The telecom company currently serves internet, TV packages, and home phone services in 27 states in the U.S.\n\n“After thoughtful consideration, we are confident that TDS Telecom is the right partner for this next chapter,” said Granite State Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer **Christian Rand**. “Their deep commitment to the New Hampshire market and proven track record gives us great confidence they will continue delivering the high-quality service our customers expect and deserve.”",
