"textContent": "July 3, 2025 – New Albany, IN, has been struck by the lack of preparation in fiber installations. Lumos, a fiber optic company, hit the marked water line on June 27.\n\n_WDRB_ covered the story, and said the break left the area without water for 6 hours. This failure was followed by a stop-work order that Floyd County put on Lumos, with disasters left behind like in other _cities_ in America. Residents complained of _gas leaks_, debris left on streets, and a lack of notice before digging.\n\nThe first stop work order _was issued June 5_ following gas leaks, and another stop work order _was issued June 30_, three days after the water break. City officials and Lumos have yet to get back to Broadband Breakfast on the matter.\n\n\n\n_****FROM SPEEDING BEAD SUMMIT****_\n _****Panel 1: How Are States Thinking About Reasonable Costs Now?****_\n_****Panel 2: Finding the State Versus Federal Balance in BEAD****_\n _****Panel 3: Reacting to the New BEAD NOFO Guidance****_\n _****Panel 4: Building, Maintaining and Adopting Digital Workforce Skills****_\n\n All Videos from Speeding BEAD Summit \n\n“We observed the markings that are required before people or companies start a digging project,” Indiana American Water said in a statement to WDRB News, “and we determined the locations for our water lines were accurate.”\n\nWDRB reported that, “About 70 customers were affected. After service is restored, customers will be under a 24-hour boil water advisory.”\n\nWDRB also cited a statement released by Lumos that afternoon, which said:\n\n“Lumos is aware of the water line disruption that occurred today and investigated promptly. Our crews continue to take all necessary precautions to construct the network safely and are coordinating closely with Floyd County officials and staff, with a meeting scheduled for Monday. With the most recent progress, the project is nearing completion in this specific neighborhood which will be followed by seamless restoration.”",
