  "textContent": "WASHINGTON, July 10, 2025 – _Comporium_ has a new leader from a familiar family.\n\nThe Rock HIll, S.C.-based telecommunications company _announced_ Thursday that **David Barnes** would be its new CEO and President. Barnes is succeeding his father, **Bryant Barnes** , and assumed the role Tuesday.\n\nFounded in 1894, the company _was sold_ to E.L. and Mary Sanders Barnes in 1912, whose family has run it ever since. David understands both where we’ve come from and what the future demands.”\n\nDavid Barnes _will lead_ the 13th largest telecommunications company in the country, one that has served over 150,000 customers. The Rock Hill native and Clemson graduate previously served as the company’s executive vice-president and CFO, a role now filled by **Kevin Cage**.\n\nComporium’s announcement mirrors a similar one _made by Casscomm_ in February 2023. Though the Virginia, Ill.-based telecommunications company _was founded_ four years after Comporium, it has been run by the same family since 1898, 14 years longer than Comporium. In addition, Casscomm noted in its announcement that its new President and CEO, **Samuel Gill** , would be the sixth generation to lead his family’s company, whereas Barnes is only the fifth.",
