Worth Over 1.6 Billion Euros: Around 150 Bulgarian Magistrates Own Five or More Apartments, Report Finds

More than one-third of Bulgarian magistrates own multiple homes, while around 150 judges, prosecutors and investigators have declared ownership of five or more apartments, according to a new analysis examining property and vehicle declarations filed between 2017 and 2024. The report, titled “Properties and Cars of Magistrates: What Public Data Tell Us,” was presented by the Bulgarian Institute for Legal Initiatives (BILI) together with analysts from Global Metrics and BIRD.
