Bulgaria’s demographic decline continued throughout 2025, with the country’s population falling to 6,423,207 people by the end of the year, according to data from the National Statistical Institute. Compared to 2024, this marks a decrease of 14,153 people, or 0.22%, confirming the long-term trend of population shrinkage driven by low birth rates, high mortality, and rapid aging.
