One of the first games I remember completing was A Link to the Past (specifically the GBA port) and the music in that 16-bit masterpiece. I don’t know, there’s something about the Link to the Past soundfont that just sounds epic. Imagine my surprise after collecting all three medallions in Hyrule, I go to free Princess Zelda only to fight the wizard Agahnim and then be transported to this world opposite of Hyrule.
\n\n\n\n
Cue the Dark World theme.
\n\n\n\n

\n\n

\n\n\n\n
We had a peek into this world earlier on Death Mountain, but nothing prepared me for this. The trombones come in with this bass line, followed by violins to show the melody. The intensity has increased a ton compared to the jovial Legend of Zelda Theme that plays in the Light World. This is how you know you’re deep in the game now.
\n\n\n\n
The Dark World Theme is probably one of my top 3 Zelda songs. This is one of those songs that prior to the internet it would be easy for me to leave my GBA on to just listen to this song (thankful for AC Adapters because otherwise I would’ve gone through so many AA batteries)
\n\n\n\n
The theme actually gets revisited in the 3DS game “A Link Between Worlds” as well!
