"textContent": "\n\n\n\nThe 98th Academy Awards may have had a severe lack of LGBTQ+ award winners, but there were still three queer nominees who took home statues tonight, and there was an incredible performance from queer artist Brittany Howard.\n\nHoward, the front woman for Alabama Shakes, performed “I Lied to You” alongside Shaboozey on the Oscars stage in celebration of _Sinners_ , which ended up winning for Best Original Score as well as three other awards.\n\n_Kpop Demon Hunters_ not only won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, but Out100 honoree Mark Sonnenblick also scored big as the co-writer of the movie’s hit song “Golden,” which won for Best Original Song.\n\nThe category for Best Short Film was a bit of an upset since two films tied for the award, including _Two People Exchanging Saliva_.\n\n“Thank you to the Academy for supporting a film that is weird and that is queer and that is made by a majority of women,” Natalie Musteata said when accepting the award alongside her fellow filmmaker Alexandre Singh.\n\n_Mr. Nobody Against Putin_ , about the indoctrination of school children to support Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, also won the Oscar for Best Documentary.\n\n“ _Mr Nobody Against Putin_ is about how you lose your country,” director David Borenstein said during his acceptance speech. “And what we saw when working with this footage is that you lose it through countless, small, little acts of complicity.”",
