Codex Rate Limits Discussion Thread
I am a subscriber to the ChatGPT Plus plan and I am extremely dissatisfied with the usage limits of Codex.
Today I completed only a relatively small task and, to my surprise, I was informed that I will not be able to continue using the tool for approximately 24 hours.
The tool displayed the following message: “ Your usage limit is reset on June 11, 2026, at 4:18 AM. To continue using Codex, add credits or upgrade to Pro today. ”
I consider this limitation excessively restrictive and incompatible with the expectation of a paid service, being inferior to the free chat.
When subscribing to a plan, it is expected that the tool can be used reasonably for professional activities. In my case, I use Codex for software development, including system migration, maintenance, and correction. Such long interruptions completely prevent the use of the platform for professional purposes.
Beyond the limitation itself, the lack of transparency regarding consumption and the exact criteria leading to blocking generates even more frustration. The user cannot predict how much they will be able to work before being prevented from continuing.
I would like to request:
A clear explanation of the limits currently applied to my account.
Greater transparency regarding consumption and available balance.
Review of Codex limits for Plus subscribers. Alternatives for acquiring additional capacity when necessary. An experience compatible with the professional use of the tool. The release of my “unrestricted” access to what is expected of a developer.
I paid for the subscription believing I would have sufficient access to work productively. Being prevented from using the tool after a relatively small activity and having to wait 24 hours to continue is something I consider unacceptable for a paid service.
If you do not release my access, I request a refund.
I await a response and a solution to this issue.
