  "textContent": "Hello everyone,\n\nI am reporting what appears to be a reproducible issue with ChatGPT data export ZIP downloads.\n\nI requested a ChatGPT data export from ChatGPT settings / Data Controls around June 8–9, 2026. I received the export email and downloaded the ZIP three times on macOS, using both Google Chrome and Safari. All download attempts were made within approximately one hour of receiving the export email, so this does not appear to be related to the 24-hour link expiration.\n\nHowever, every downloaded archive appears to be incomplete or malformed and cannot be extracted.\n\n## Environment\n\n  * Product: ChatGPT data export\n\n  * Export request: around 12:36 PM, June 8, 2026, JST\n\n  * Downloads: around 12:50 PM, June 9, 2026, JST\n\n  * Device: MacBook Air M1\n\n  * OS: macOS 26.5.1\n\n  * Browsers tested: Google Chrome, Safari\n\n  * Extraction/checking tools tested: macOS Archive Utility, The Unarchiver app, Terminal `unzip -t`\n\n\n\n\n## Download attempts\n\nI downloaded the export three times. I am not including my account email, export link, screenshots, or the actual ZIP file for privacy/security reasons.\n\n  1. Google Chrome download 1\nFile size: `2,487,058,432 bytes`\nResult: download appeared successful, but the ZIP was invalid and could not be extracted.\n\n  2. Google Chrome download 2\nFile size: `2,486,419,456 bytes`\nResult: download appeared successful, but the ZIP was invalid and could not be extracted.\n\n  3. Safari download\nFile size: `1,958,739,968 bytes`\nResult: Safari reported “Decompression failed,” and the ZIP was also invalid when checked via Terminal.\n\n\n\n\n## Errors observed\n\n  * macOS Archive Utility shows: “Unable to expand [archive filename]”\n  * The Unarchiver starts extracting, shows a progress bar, but eventually fails with an error similar to: “Could not extract file_000000007438872069d7a41a8730476b3.dat”\n  * Terminal `unzip -t` reports this for all three downloaded ZIP files: “End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive.unzip: cannot find zipfile directory”\n\n\n\n## Summary\n\nAll three downloads produce invalid ZIP files, and the downloaded files have different byte sizes even though they were downloaded from the same export flow and within the valid link period.\n\nI think this suggests that the export may be served incompletely, truncated during download, or generated as a malformed ZIP before download.",
