Codex mobile device pairing on Windows 11: Android QR route seems broken, iOS QR workaround works

I noticed something today in the latest Codex build on Windows 11.

Codex finally suggested connecting a mobile device. Since I use Android, I selected the Android device option and scanned the QR code.

The generated route was:

https://com.openai.chat//codex/open”

That link does not resolve anywhere for me. It does not open ChatGPT, and the device authorization flow never starts.

The workaround that worked:

  1. In Codex on Windows 11, switch from the Android QR tab to the iOS QR tab.

  2. Scan the iOS QR code with the Android device.

  3. The link immediately opens in the ChatGPT app.

  4. After login/authorization, the Windows machine gets authorized correctly.

  5. Codex mobile connection appears to work.

So the feature seems to be there, and the backend authorization flow appears functional. The issue may be the Android-specific deep link route generated by the QR code.

Posting this in case it helps others trying to pair Android with Codex on Windows 11, and hopefully helps the OpenAI team reproduce the issue.
